3 Packaging Inventions that People Should be Grateful For

When the seasons begin to change in the fall months, most people begin to look forward to special occasions like Thanksgiving and other fun holidays. During these times, there are a lot of commonly known dishes like turkey, ham, green beans, pumpkin pies, cranberry sauce and other scrumptious food choices that people want to take advantage of when they are celebrating with friends and family. Aside from making these dishes fresh out of the oven and placing them on the table for everyone in the family to enjoy, there are at least 3 great inventions that have made life much easier, and they are as follows:

#1 Flash Freezing

When foods are stored away for later consumption, it is important that the process that is used meet their personalized standards. Unlike the state of pickles that can be stored in bottles for a long period of time and then eaten later, it is important to note that not all food storage processes are the same. This is one of the main reasons why flash freezing has become so popular over time. Particularly, because some people prefer flash freezing as a primary method of storing their food instead of the traditional methods of freezing a dish in the frozen part of the refrigerator.

So, what is flash freezing? Flash freezing was developed in the 1920’s so it has been around for some time now. In this process, foods are frozen at a faster rate than the traditional methods. The type of solution can vary from one manufacturer since some freezing techniques require the use of liquid nitrogen, while others uses calcium chloride. Whatever the choice, these processes produces foods that are as fresh as the pre-frozen original state.

#2 – Vacuum Packaging

Another option for preserving food for later consumption is vacuum packaging. Vacuum packaging is often used for specific purposes today. One in particular is in packaging various kinds of products that’s sent across the globe. To keep poultry fresh in the cardboard boxes that they are packed in, vacuuming packaging is done first.

In this process all of the air is suctioned out so that all is left is a product that is safe enough to eat whenever it arrives without being disturbed. So, this process is used in America and other places abroad.

#3 – Canning

Open a can of vegetables is common place in many areas of the world. Even though most people rarely think of what happens in this pre-packagingprocess. While canned foods is not new since it has been around for at least 1800’s years and earlier, it is still a big part of the food industry’s practices today. Therefore, people can consume all kinds of different types of food items in cans that comes from the grocery shelves. From rich sauces for pasta to meat in a can, there are a wide range of different things that come pre-packaged in a can.

Though there are many different ways to preserve and store food away today, some tend to be more innovative and popular than others. Mainly because everyone has a specific preference that they may choose if they want to serve their foods at a later date. While some of these processes have been used for centuries before, others have not been on the scene until the 1920’s. Either way, the types of preservation options chosen can differ from one to another.
